Morocco: a photo diary

All photos are taken by Anna Meyer Photography

We spent two incredible weeks in Morocco with 25 women exploring the ins and outs of Marrakech before heading out to the incredibly serene Stone Desert. Take a peak at what our journey looked like and be sure to look out for when we announce our Morocco retreat again!

Saturday consisted of arriving at our Riad, eating lunch together and then taking a restorative yoga practice to stretch out from all of our travels. We introduced our selves and dove into our journals during our welcome circle before enjoying our henna and cocktail hour.

Sunday

We woke up a practiced yoga inside the Riad. Post breakfast we all head out to enjoy a traditional Hammam spa. This was the best way to shed skin both literally and symbolically as you are scrubbed down head to do in a hot and steamy bath room. We enjoyed tea and cookies on the roof top terrace before making our way to the souks for a day of shopping!

We came back to another gentle yoga practice and took out our journals again for some partner discussions. Dinner was out this night in the heart of the Medina at one of our favorite restaurants!

Monday

We left the city for the day and head out to the Atlas Mountains to hike the four villages starting from Imlil. This was a breath taking escape from the hectic Medina and we were all delighted by the stunning views and great company.

Tuesday

After another morning practice and the best breakfast on our terrace, we went on a market tour and cooking class where we learned how to make traditional tagine! That evening we went to another spectacular restaurant where we enjoyed cocktails and a live show with belly dancers. We were so impressed to see our very own friends get up there and shake it!

Wednesday

Post yoga and packing, we said our goodbyes to the best riad in Marrakech and drove out to our new home for the next three nights. The Stone Desert is just a 45 minute drive outside of the city but allows you to feel perfectly secluded in your tiny desert oasis. The day we arrived we had an incredible lunch set up by the staff and then all checked off riding camels on our bucket lists!

Thursday

We woke up just before dawn and were able to practice to the sun rising just over the mountains. After discussion and breakfast we walked to a nearby village and got to see a baby camel that was only a few days old! The rest of the day was spent lounging in the sun followed by an inversion workshop led by Dani. We meditated on our visions and shared what insights we had come to so far through out the week. We used that wisdom to then write out an action plan to facilitate our goals and dreams. Before dinner we all sat around the fire together and listened to live music with wine in hand. Dinner was under a canvas tent, candle lit with ornate candelabras where we were served a three course meal and always made room for dessert!

Friday

Our final day together consisted of a gentle yoga practice in the morning, although some of the girls went on a hot air balloon ride which fit so perfectly with what our practice was for that day. It was all about aligning with our highest and seeing the big picture for our lives. After everyone relaxed and received massage and spa treatments through out the day we did what Arrow does and took everyone to a look out point to practice 108 sun salutations. We love to end every retreat this way for it's transformative power and ability to unite us to ourselves and to each other in a big way. After live music again around the fire, a beautiful birthday celebration for one of our guests we lit fire lanterns and set our intentions out into the universe. To go with the intention for this day we ended our entire trip looking up at the stars with a local astronomer.
